COMIC
34 years ago, humanity had a harsh moment of realization when an alien pod thing crashed into a Kansas farm, which quickly caused a media explosion the like of which has never been seen since the last time a movie star got drunk and puked on their chauffeur. In any case, the military spent years trying (unsuccessfully) to cover up the aliens existence, but gave that up on the aliens sixth birthday, when they announced his presence to the world, telling them that this squid armed green skinned blobby headed… thing was named Jacob Smith, so chosen because it was the most common given name at the time. That and they were not terribly creative.
For years Jacob grew up in isolation, at first for fear of him carrying some strange alien pathogen, and later because they were afraid that being in public would corrupt him, so over the years Jacob grew up knowing five people, the man in charge of his program, Dr. Ingram, his therapist Dr. San, the general in charge of the program General Shmirnoff, and a handful of guards. This has had some… unfortunate side effects to his socialization, but they hoped for the best.
Alienated is the story of what happens after the world grows tired of the first alien, and his first attempt to try and go out into the world. It’s a story about first love in your thirties, growing up, and maniacal morons who couldn’t plot their way out of their own skulls.
Alienated: A romantic comedy about an alien. Doesn’t get more basic than that.
CREATORS
Brendan M. Speers wrote the first draft of Alienated while attending a school where actors get classrooms with windows and ventilation and writers simply do not some odd years ago. After he graduated it sat around not doing a whole lot on his hard drive until 2009 when he decided to poke at it for a while again. This got the attention of Brittany “Brinny” Langlois, who graciously allows Mr. Speers to live in the closet of her cozy one bedroom North Van apartment.
In the dead of night Brinny stole Mr. Speers’ precious alien story and drew mocking picture versions of it, hoping to drive him to madness with her cruel wit. Unfortunately for her, he seemed to like them very much, so Brinny decided to put them up on the internet to live with everything else she hates.
